I expected to be with my mom on Mother's Day (likely her last), but in the end I could not be there. So I attempted to send her flowers on the Friday before (5/9). I normally order from another online floral delivery company. However, they, like all the other honest online florists, said they couldn't do it before Monday. Then I find this company. In huge letters at the top of their website they offer "SAME DAY DELIVERY!!!" I checked the dates and it included that day (5/9). So I paid over $80 for a $35 flower arrangement. They did have a $20 coupon (don't fall for their "deals") or it would have been over $100! Most of this made up of insane delivery related fees. But hey, it was the Friday before Mother's Day, right? Well they charged Paypal with a quickness. But I never got an order confirmation. No flowers Friday. No flowers Saturday. Like everyone else, I went through the voice prompt system. Several times. I "faked" a new order to get a real person on the phone. Call center in India? Very helpful. Not. So I went through Paypal and disputed the charge. Low and behold! A Christmas miracle in May! They replied within MINUTES! I got an email reply to my voicemail as well as my order confirmation within minutes of their Paypal reply to my dispute. Coincidence? They clearly have someone at the ready to protect every dime they charge, and their billing department is quick to process the charging part of your transaction. So to me, the most interesting part is that on their Paypal dispute, they point out, within the first few sentences, that they cannot always guarantee the delivery date and reserve the right to reschedule your order, which "the customer agrees to at the time of purchase." Yes, ladies and gents, they are one of "those companies." They bait you with one thing, then put tons of fine print they know you won't ever read, but allows them to not provide what you think you just paid for.

Ok. Now I have to be totally fair. Believe it or not, those flowers DID show up, as described and pictured, ON MOTHER'S DAY!!! I guess threats of reporting to the BBB and leaving bad reviews works sometimes? Or maybe it's a coincidence, too. But somehow, they did get a local florist to deliver on Mother's Day. Technically, it wasn't the "same day delivery" that I paid for, but in my case, it did get there for the occasion I was trying to cover. As I told them, the point is, the nature of their business is time sensitive. You can't just say "I know you want flowers for a funeral/birthday/anniversary/Mother's Day, and we might get them there on time. But maybe not."
